A Memorable Evening Catered by Dozzy's Grill at Chicago Is… Seasonal Meeting and Celebration

On June 4th, Dozzy's Grill had the pleasure of catering a special event for Chicago Is… at the beautiful V. Collective in Chicago. This seasonal meeting and celebration brought together a vibrant community, and we were honored to provide a memorable culinary experience.

Our Menu for the Evening

For this event, we curated a menu that showcased the rich and diverse flavors of Nigerian cuisine, ensuring each dish was a delight to the senses:

Zobo - Hibiscus Sweet Tea: We started the evening with our refreshing and tangy Zobo, served in elegant disposable cups. This traditional hibiscus tea was a perfect welcome drink, setting a refreshing tone for the evening.

AfroBeet Salad: Our vibrant AfroBeet Salad featured organic red beets, grape tomatoes, fennel, red onions, and toasted walnuts, all tossed in a unique Ashanti pepper vinaigrette. This salad provided a beautiful blend of earthy and spicy flavors, adding color and freshness to the menu.

Yam! The King of Crops: We celebrated the versatility of yams with this hearty dish, pairing Ghanaian yam with Ofe Egusi, a rich melon seed stew made with palm oil, red onions, garlic, red bell peppers, spinach, and grains of paradise. This dish was a favorite, showcasing the depth and richness of African culinary traditions.

Red Red: Our Red Red featured black-eyed peas simmered in a tomato and palm oil sauce, accompanied by fried plantains and a crispy kale garnish. This dish was a comforting and satisfying addition to the evening, embodying the essence of home-cooked African meals.

Jollof Rice Station: A highlight of our menu was the Jollof Rice Station. Guests enjoyed long-grain rice cooked to perfection in a flavorful tomato sauce and veggie stock. This beloved West African classic was a crowd-pleaser, allowing guests to savor a staple of our cuisine.

Nyangbo Mini Chocolate Cupcakes & Brownies: To conclude the culinary journey, we served decadent mini cupcakes and brownies made with single-origin Ghanaian chocolate, adorned with gold dust and Calabash nutmeg. These sweet treats provided a delightful and elegant end to the meal.

We took care of practical needs, providing garbage bags and two receptacles to maintain cleanliness throughout the evening. Our commitment to excellence was evident in every aspect of our service, ensuring that the evening was enjoyable and stress-free for our hosts and their guests.
